The Story Behind The Name
There is a feeling most of us carry from childhood; the feeling of putting on headphones, pressing play, and suddenly the world around you changes. Not the world itself. The way you move through it.
Baladeur takes its name from the French word for wanderer. But the name reaches further than that. In French, un baladeur was also what people called the portable CD player — that small, familiar weight in your jacket pocket that let music travel with you wherever you went. It shaped your mood. It set your pace. It gave the streets a soundtrack, the journey a feeling, the ordinary world something close to magic.
That feeling of movement and discovery sits at the heart of everything we make.
Baladeur is a London-based fashion brand inspired by travel, music and storytelling. It was founded by Sheedo Okotan with a simple but powerful conviction: clothing as portable pieces that follow you wherever you go as your favourite song. Could hold a memory, a place, a person. Could follow you across cities and decades without ever losing what made it mean something.
We all come from somewhere, carrying our stories with us. Baladeur is my way of turning those stories into something you can wear.
The brand grew from moving through cities, cultures and communities. Every collection reflects the people Sheedo has met and the places that have shaped him.
Baladeur is built for the journey. Whatever yours looks like, you do not need to be in motion to feel the spirit of travel. You do not need to be anywhere in particular to carry the feeling of journey. Baladeur celebrates the journey, the discovery, and the unique stories that each of us carries.
Born in London. Built for the journey.
